Village official shot dead in Compostella Valley
MANILA, Philippines – A village official was shot dead by suspects communist rebels that barged inside his house on late Wednesday afternoon in a remote village in Compostella Valley, police reports said Thursday.
Reports reaching Camp Crame, the PNP headquarters in Manila, said that Colberto Tibay Jr., 50, was alone inside his house in Brgy. Magsaysay, Nabutaran town when he was attacked by at least two gunmen at around 5:20pm.
The village official was shot in the head by one of the gunmen that immediately escape on board a TMX motorcyle following the attack, the reports said.
Tibay was rushed at Tagum City General hospital where he died while undergoing medical treatment, the reports said.
