Ko kampeon sa 2011 Guiness World Series of Pool
NAKOPO ni Taiwanese sensation Ko Pin-Yi ang overall title matapos magkampeon sa 2011 Guinness World Series of Pool Championship 10-Ball challenge sa Mall Taman Anggrek Jakarta, Indonesia kahapon, Linggo.
Ang two-time WPA World Junior champion, isa sa Taiwan’s most talented players, ay giniba si 2007 US Open 9-Ball Champion Shane “The South Dakota Kid” Van Boening, 10-4, ng Estados Unidos sa finals tungo sa top prize of $41,000 sa tough annual competition sanctioned ng Asian Pocket Billiard Union (APBU) at organized ng ESPN Star Sports’ Event Management Group (EMG). Naiuwi naman Van Boening ang runner-up purse na $11,000.
‘I prepared really hard for this tournament. Through all that training, I think that helped me keep my emotions in check whenever I felt pressure in my matches. And that proved to be the difference in my game this year. I’m very excited to tell my friends and my parents back home about my win,” sabi ni Ko sa panayam ng ESPN matapos ang laban.
Bago ang Final Four, kinailangan munang gulatin ni Ko si tournament top-seed and World No. 1 Dennis Orcollo ng Philippines, 8-6, sa kanilang semifinals clash para makalaban si Van Boening sa korona na una ng dinaig si Indonesian Irsal Nasution 8-4.
