Orcollo stays on top of WPA ranking
FILIPINO cue artist Dennis Orcollo emerged as the world’s top cue earner for the month of July with winnings of $81,740.
Orcollo earned $10,000 for reaching the semifinals in the 2011 World Pool-Billiards Association (WPA) World 9-Ball Championship in Doha, Qatar over the weekend.
Orcollo, a former fisherman from Bislig, Surigao del Sur, also remained on top of the WPA rankings despite failing to win the World 9-Ball crown for a 2,510 total points.
The 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games 9-ball gold medal winner gained 640 points after reaching the final four of the World 9-Ball Championship.
Japanese Yukio Akagariyama, who beat another Filipino bet Ronato Alcano, in the finals jumped from 13th to second place with 2,100 points.
Alcano placed third after earning 800 points by reaching the final of the 9-ball tilt.
