Korean KFR gang leader nabbed in Butuan City
MANILA, Philippines – Combine police operatives in Butuan City have arrested a Korean said to be the leader of a kidnap for ransom (KFR) group that is targeting Korean nationals in the country, Sunday morning.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesman, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., identified the arrested Korean KFR gand leader as Kim Wonkeun.
Cruz said Kim was apprehended at around 9am by combine operatives of the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response (Pacer) and Butuan City police at his home on Rosewood Subd., in Butuan City.
The PNP spokesman said Kim was arrested for his involvement in the kidnapping of a compatriot in Cebu City last August 21.
Kim is presently detained at the Butuan City police office while appropriate charges are being readied against him by the police, the PNP spokesman said.
