Manila hostage crisis hindi na mauulit

TINIYAK ng Malakanyang na hindi na mauulit ang Manila hostage tragedy na nagresulta ng pagkamatay ng walong dayuhan.

Sinabi ni Deputy Presidential Spokeswoman Atty. Abigail Valte na ang kapulisan lalo na ang Special Action Force (SAF), ay mas preparado at handa ngayon na humawak ng crisis situations.

“Last week, we saw the training and simulation of the SAF. It would be hard for that (Aug. 23 hostage crisis) to happen again. We have taken steps to ensure that their capability and equipment are enough to avoid such things happening again,” anito.

Sinabi pa rin niya na nagdagdag na ng mga kapulisan sa ilang special areas na palaging inirereklamo ng mga turista.

Sinabi naman ni Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., na bumuo ang pamahalaan ng Crisis Action Force (CAF) bilang tugon sa hostage incident at naglaan ng P169.9 million para bigyan ang special police unit ng bagong armas, kagamitan at sasakyan para pantulong na matugunan ang situwasuyon na kahalintulad nito sa mga darating na araw.

“CAF personnel are graduates of specialized training courses. He said SWAT personnel have received additional training courses, while a pool of negotiators that have undergone training here and overseas on hostage and crisis management has been formed,” ayon kay Ochoa.

Gumawa naman ang Philippine National Police (PNP) ng tatlong handbooks ukol sa hostage crisis management.
