What’s the big deal nga ba?

Ang buong akala namin na pagkatapos ng ilang taong pamamalagi ni La Aunor sa USA kaakibat na roon ang di kanais-nais na kontrobersiya she would have totally lost her unparalleled o phenomenal charisma or a goner of sort sa masa o madlang pipol as we say it now.

In fact before Nora Aunor came into the appointed place, ang major-major topic ay ang biglang buhos ng ulan at kabagyuhan ng kapanahunang ‘yun or the vagaries of weather shared over a power lunch of delightful buffet which was more than a gastronomic treat courtesy of TV5 who made all things possible for the Superstar to come home with dignity and pride written all over her face.

One for history if you ask me. As in TV5’s past ventures,  you must credit it to the maverick Percy Intalan whose penchant for taking great risk in his management style had paid off once more this time not only in the direction of raising their network’s score card, but also in the way of sending the right signal to the jaded Pinoy televiewers, if not to the world in reaffirming that there is really such thing as standard in great acting in the persona of Nora Aunor. Be it on the small or  big screen.

Do I sound like a dyed-in-the wool Noranian? Hintay. Maya-maya a haunting instrumental slowly belched forth  and there emerged La Aunor sa pintuan na akala mo ay isang mala-diyosang bumaba sa kanyang dating iniwanang kaharian in her most glorious moment exuding from afar her patented warmth and charisma dripping all about her you can almost touch it habang siya’y pinag-aagawang mayakap at mahalikan ng kahit ilang sandali ng animo’y mga nabubuwang na mga well-wishers.

Halos walang pagbabago in the way her eyeballs sparkled like pair of diamonds in the shining light and even on the reflections of her smart white outfit.  Her smiles were just as organic the way she would smile at you many decades ago.

With flying colors, she endeared herself the second time around with her friends and fan following.

But what stuck in my mind was the comment of a third generation TV host and forum moderator na si IC Mendoza who said na si La Aunor is the greatest actress of all time in Filipino cinema. I think so too. Kayo?
