Japanese nabbed for possession of stolen hot car
MANILA, Philippines – Anti-carnapping authorities have apprehended over the weekend in Baguio City a Japanese national for possession of a stolen luxury vehicle, police reports said Sunday.
Reports sent to Camp Crame by S/Supt. Roel Obusan, Chief of Baguio City Highway Patrol Group (HPG) identified the arrested Japanese national as Kento Koyanagi, residing at Tamawan Village in Pinsao of said city.
The reports said that a mobile team from Baguio City HPG were conducting anti-carnapping operation when it flagged down for inspection a Mercedes Benz sedan (PHF-111) driven by the Japanese.
During inspection by HPG personnel, the said luxury Sedan
was found to have been included in the HPG’s VIMS of Alarmed Stolen Vehicle, prompting the police to take Koyanagi into their custody, the reports said.
The reports said that luxury vehicle was reportedly owned by a certain Estelita Hipolito of Agno St., in Quezon city was reported to have been stolen at the parking lot of SM City North Edsa on June 3, 1996.
Koyanagi is presently held at the Baguio City HPG officer for investigation.
