Valenzuela is tops
THE report recently released by the Local Governance Performance Management System, a web-based assessment tool that is being managed by the Department of Interior and Local Government, is something that gets the people from the Valenzuela City government more inspired to work harder for the residents’ welfare.
Mayor Win Gatchalian and younger brother Rep. Rex Gatchalian who have been credited for gearing the city towards dramatic progress, have all the reasons to smile nowadays as it has bested all other highly urbanized cities all over the country in terms of governance as measured and assessed by LGPMS.
DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo said that a panel from the national and local governments conducted the assessment to gauge the LGUs’ performance, scoring them correspon-dingly, with 1 as the lowest and 5 as the highest and with the non-government organizations and civil society groups certifying the results to ensure neutrality and fairness.
Valenzuela City, obtaining a score of 4.9150, satisfies all the criteria set forth by the LGPMS, according to the DILG chief.
He says: “I hope that the emulative responsible governance the Valenzuela officials have achieved would serve as shining example to inspire others to strive better in the performance of their duties.”
A visibly elated Mayor Gatchalian says the city’s latest feat would further inspire its officials and employees to do their jobs more efficiently and with dedication.
“We are greatly honored for the recognition.”
“With this, we are more inspired not to stop in our efforts to accord our constituents with the finest service delivery.
“In this way, we play our part in the advancement of economic prosperity and of the social well-being of the Filipino people as a whole,” the mayor says.
