“Allowing ZTE to participate in the bidding process of a proposed broadband deal sends the wrong signals to the Filipino people,” ayon kay Pimentel.

“If the Chinese firm ZTE is still allowed to participate even in the bidding process, it might create an impression that as a people, we Filipinos do not mind being fooled by scandal-tainted firms,” giit pa ng senador.

Allowing ZTE to take part in the bidding of another broadband deal will spark unavoidable suspicions of irregularity, more so if the ZTE wins in the bidding, Pimentel added.

“The government should allow only those firms that have a solid track record of undertaking quality projects, and reject those whose track records are tainted by corruption and bribery, aniya.
