3 ‘bolt-cutter’ gang members killed in shootout
THREE alleged members of “bolt-cutter” gang were reportedly killed in a shootout with police operatives early dawn Monday in a remote village in Batangas, police reports said.
The suspects were identified as Leoncio Valientos of Cebu City, Diosdado Escrada of San Isidro, Mabini, Bohol and Francisco Lacuarin of Calamansian, Caloocan City.
Initial reports reaching the PNP operations in Camp Crame said that the shootout took place at around 4:45 a.m. in Barangay San Roque in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
The reports said that the three suspects were spotted by a roving police mobile patrol team in front of a computer shop at the said village before the shoot-out took place.
When the police team was about to check the suspects, two of them ran and boarded a jeep driven by another suspect and fired at the police, resulting to a running gun-battle, the reports said.
The suspects were killed in the ensuing gun-battle, while a bolt-cutter was recovered by the police near the computer shop where the suspects were earlier sighted. Anthony Vargas
