ASG member arrested in Sulu
AN ABU Sayyaf (ASG) member involved in the kidnapping of three Red Cross volunteer workers in Sulu was nabbed by combined military and police operatives late Tuesday afternoon (October 4) in Sulu.
Reports reaching Camp Crame, the police national headquarters in Manila, identified the arrested Abu Sayyaf member as Adzhar Patta Mawalil alias “Ajang Nedz Mawalil.”
Mawalil was nabbed by the combined operatives of the Naval Intelligence Security Group (NISG) and police seaborne commandoes during an operation in Sitio Martinez, Brgy. San Raymundo, Jolo, Sulu.
The reports said Mawalil was under ASG commander Albader Parad, who was behind the abduction of three volunteer workers of the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) in Sulu in January 2009.
Parad’s group is also responsible for the beheading of seven laborers of the BJ Mill in Brgy. Silangkan in Parang, Sulu and other atrocities in the province in 2010.
Mawalil is presently undergoing debriefing at the headquarters of the Marine Battalion Landing team 9 also in Jolo. Anthony Vargas
