Kidnapped American citizen freed
AN AMERICAN citizen kidnapped with her 14-year-old son and distant cousin nearly three months ago in Zamboanga City was freed on late Sunday night in a remote village in Basilan.
The freed kidnap victim, Gerfa Yeats Lunsmann, was recovered by government security forces at around 10 p.m. in Sitio Suba Kampong, Brgy. Townsite, Maluso town in Basilan.
The reports said that a team of policemen led by Chief Insp. Dinar Hassan, was dispatched to the said area to check on the reported presence of armed men roaming there, but instead found Lunsmann.
Lunsmann was immediately brought to the Maluso police station while local police officials immediately coordinated with Zamboanga City Crisis Management Committee.
The reports added that Lunsmann was turned over to Jagdeep Khangura and Michael Paysan, both Federal Bureau of Investigation special agents, to be transported back to Zamboanga City.
Lunsmann, 47, and her son Kevin Eric, 14, were vacationing in Tictabon Island when abducted along with a distant cousin, Basilan native Romnick Jackaria).
