Jose inches closer to gold in SEAG

REIGNING two-time national open champion Woman Fide Master (WFM) Rulp Ylem Jose inched closer to gold medal in women’s standard chess of the 26th Southeast Asian Games  at the Swarna Dwipa Hotel in Palembang, Indonesia.

The 22-year-old Jose drew with Vietnamese Woman International Master (WIM) Nguyen Thi Mai Hung in the fourth and final round Sunday night (November 20) to finish with 3.0 points on two wins and two draws.

Hung still has one match remaining and a victory over Isawan Srijomtong of Thailand will let her match Jose’s total. In case of a tie, a playoff will determine the winner of the gold medal. Liberty Icao
