Matagal na nga raw nabili sabi ng aming colleague na si Vinia Vivar who had the kind heart to accommodate us on her car amidst the terrible traffic with Wendell Alvarez, Kumareng Maricris Nicasio and Pilar Mateo from another equally glamorous press brief at Rembrandt Hotel hosted by famous manager Lito De Guzman for her new teenage singing sensation Raia Quiroz on her grand album launch eponymously billed Raia Quiroz Tara Na.
Napaka-familiar ng plot line ng soap as it is set against the glamorous yet cutthroat world of cosmetic surgeons competing for love and success in an industry masked by beauty and marred by intrigues and lies. (Kayo ba ‘yan Dr. Vicky Belo, Dr. Cayanan, et. al? hahaha!)
It had its most recent and exciting grand premiere this week right after Wil Time Bigtime and from the looks of it the primetime series will surely fill your nights with heart-wrenching drama with grand slam best actress Lorna Tolentino who recently signed with the Kapatid network debuting in her first drama series as Dr. Natalia Herrera, a wealthy and successful cosmetic surgeon with a heart hardened by betrayal and tragedy brought about by the loss of her child and the man she loves.
In said premiere umaariba agad si Alice Dixson who returns after the successful run of “Babaeng Hampaslupa” as Paulina Valdez, an upcoming cosmetic surgeon and the arch rival what do you know to Lorna Tolentino but of course. Their chemistry is most perfect as they are both competent actresses vying for the heart of Zoren Legaspi, a streetsmart hoodlum that imprisons the hearts of our two leading ladies.
Put in another seasoned and award-winning actress our favorite since Director Celso Ad Castillo’s masterpiece Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop Sa Balat Ng Lupa na si Gloria Diaz who at her age still personifies the word glamour as glamour can be. Any pretender to her throne would virtually pale in comparison.
In-between the two warring beauties is Ritz Azul as Giselle, a young girl in search of her true identity and considered as one of TV5’s Princesses. It is a breath of fresh air to watch stage actress/chanteuse Celeste Legaspi slugging it out with the rest of the exceptionally talented cast like Tonton Gutierrez, Lotlot De Leon, Nonie Buencamino, and Ronaldo Valdez.
Asan ka pa? It is helmed by three award-winning directors, one of whom is the sorely missed (by us) Argel Joseph who is now lording it over at Kapatid network putting to good use his metier as director of no mean caliber with Eric Quizon, and Bb. Joyce Bernal.
Serenity with beauty is the word for it. And Lorna T. intimates that soon she will move to her newly aquired manse in Cavite.
Come to think of it, tama si Lotlot and this applies to Matet and her brother Ian De Leon. Kahit sabihin pang they have talents of their own, iba na yung you come from the family tree of the Superstar. It’s just right that Lotlot should look back with full gratitude (not partial, right Noranians?) to her Mom even at times she gets into some gusot with the Superstar which is normal.
Kaya let’s see how Lotlot will fare put alongside veteran actresses like Lorna and Alice? Or for that matter face-to-face with Gloria Diaz and Celeste Legaspi? You think she will be as glamorous as the aforementioned in the acting department? Find it out yourself.
