Moro commander killed in clan war
ONE Moro rebel commander after fighting between two factions of the Moro rebels erupted late Saturday afternoon in a remote village in Maguindanao, military reports said Sunday.
Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo, the military general headquarters in Manila, the fighting between two MILF factions occured at around 3pm Saturday at Brgy. Elian in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town in Maguindanao.
The reports said the fighting, locally known as ‘rido, erupted as two warring factions of the Moro rebel groups clashed due to unsettled differences.
The reports said that one group was led by a certain Commander Fahad of the MILF’s 118th Base Command while the other was led by a certain Commander Mutin of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.
Sporadic gunfires were heard until in the evening and that a Commander Mutin was reported was killed in the fighting, the reports said.
There were similar clashes among the different warring factions in the recent weeks.
The clashes reportey occurred inside the MILF-influenced communities.
As part of the ceasefire agreement, the soldiers are not allowed to enter the MILF-influenced communities without prior coordination with the Coordinating Committee for the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) which has AFP and MILF members as representatives.
Local police forces are now investigating the said incident together with the local officials in the area.
