Kasalukuyan siyang sumasailalim sa dialysis, this alone poses a serious medical problem that entails a great deal of financial resources dahil isa itong lifetime treatment.
Anybody can go through it, even worse than his case. Buti na lang, if it’s any consolation, he thrives in his successful artist management kung saan ang pambato niyang alaga is a prominent singer-composer-TV host-comedian-commercial endorser all rolled into one.
Ilan pa sa kanyang mga alaga are well-placed, financially secure with their regular assignments na kung susumahin ang accumulated commissions ng manager na ito ay sobra-sobra pang ipangpatayo ng isang dialysis center that will sustain his life.
But given his medical condition, magsilbing sana itong wake-up call sa kanya in dealing with those people na nakatutulong lalung-lalo na sa kanyang alagang morenang aktres who needs a good bath to wash away her grime off her body.
Gayunpaman, here’s wishing that this manager recovers from his renal (kidney-related) problem, and we literally mean “bato” na internal organ ng tao…hindi “bato” as in shabu na may kunek sa kanyang libaging alagang morenang starlet!
IT SEEMED like a parade of birthday cakes.
Made of different sizes and shapes, colors and designs at ito ang bumungad sa amin upon entering the studio of The Buzz bilang pagdiriwang ng kaarawan ng main host nitong si Boy Abunda, six days before his actual birthday (October 29).
Among the visiting reporter-friends/well-wishers of Kuya Boy, kami yata ang naunang napadpad sa studio ng The Buzz a few minutes after it went on air. Tiyempong wala pa siyang on-camera segment, kaya sinamantala na namin ang pagkorner sa kanya.
A virtual alien na nangahas tumawid sa kabilang teritoryo, ni minsan ay hindi ipinaramdam ni Kuya Boy—including friends like Roxy, Louie, Ian and EJ—na isa kaming dayuhan. Sa kaso naman kasi with Kuya Boy, long years of friendship transcends whatever tension exists between and among the giant TV networks.
Kuya Boy and I are no participants in the raging war. After all, it’s a concern confined to and within the TV stations, labas kami roon. Ours is a beauty contest of sorts, kung saan both of us make it to the Top 5 as we prepare for the Q & A portion.
In a way, it’s still a parade—this time hindi ng mga birthday cakes—kundi a toast to a genuine friendship (minus the howbiz trappings) that spans more than 16 years, and still counting.
