Regal joins forces with Manny Pangilinan
ONE grand showbiz event to celebrate Halloween was the announcement coming from the camp of Regal Films represented by Executive Producer Roselle Monteverde-Teo and Manny Pangilinan-led TV5 outfit represented by Perci M. Intalan, head of Creative Entertainment Production, about their most recent joint venture to showcase Regal’s house of horrors which it is also famously known for even to the present time.
I say grand because the joint partnership of the two aforementioned outfits hope to restore the horror anthology Regal Shocker to its former glory as the premier horror show on local TV. To recall, the show aired for five years starting 1988 on government-sequestered Channel 13.
That’s for a teaser. The themed party held at Annabel’s which brought in the spine-tingling ambience of horror was such fun the child in us enjoyed it to no end owing to the excellent works of transporting the place into one of a perfect chilling party place for Halloween.
Annabel’s favorite second floor for event launches was magically designed into one of a humongous cave dark and grim with subdued lighting with walls draped with cobwebs, skewered innocent dolls hanging hither and thither, etc. while we did our obligatory trick and treat bagful collections of candies which we lumped into our pumpkin basket as giveaways from an oversized “kamatayan” character in scary costume complete with photo ops and all.
There was a corner for an expert tarot card reader for those who believe that their future depends on the signs of the tarot hahaha! Fun indeed.
When the main cast of the first three installments of the Regal Shocker was finally presented to the press like Lara Quigaman, Wendell Ramos, Edgar Allan Guzman, etc. along with three directors Topel Lee, Soxy Topacio and Rhayan Carlos, about 6 fully dressed zombies made up with dripping blood and fresh wounds about their bodies slowly made themselves felt to us walking like they just woke up from the grave eliciting ample shirks and screams from the weak of hearts which made us laugh albeit nervously.
Regal Shocker debuted successfully on TV5 the past Saturday at 8:45 p.m. with Gabby Concepcion and Nina Jose in the episode Elevator. Ruffa Gutierrez leads this coming Saturday shocker billed Red Shoes, and on Nov. 19 Alex Gonzaga and Edgar Allan Guzman will horrify us with a mysterious piano that kills.
Creative mover Perci M. Intalan, more than welcomed the new partnership. “We are happy to work with Regal for this project,” Mr. Intalan shared. “We all know Regal is an expert when it comes to horror movies, proof of which are the endless series of movies like Shake, Rattle, and Roll that have become part of the consciousness of Pinoy moviegoers,” he added.
To which Roselle Monteverde-Teo added, “We made sure to make each episode like a movie with a star-studded-cast and directed by some of our innovative film directors.”
