We are ready to secure GMA wherever she will be detained – PNP
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said that it is ready to provide the necessary security to former president, now Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo once the court decidesn on where she should be detained.
The former president who is facing electoral sabotage charges before a Pasay City Regional Trial Court is presently ‘detained’ at St. Lukes Medical Center in Taguig City while the court hears her motion for house arrest.
“Wherever the court decides to put her, we will secure her… that’s our mandate,” PNP Chief. Director General Nicanor Bartolome told reporters during a chance interview at Camp Crame on Monday.
The PNP chief said that they will not make any recommendations on where the former president should be detained even if asked by the court, but emphasize they are ready to secure her if the court decides in placing under arrest at a government hospital.
The Pasay City Regional Trial Court is expected to conduct anytime to day an inspection of possible places where the former president should be detained including the Veterans Memorial Medical Center and the National Orthopedic Hospital, both in Quezon City.
“Whether the detention will be at a government hospital or at the Southern Police District, we will be there to secure her,” Bartolome said adding they are waiting and ready to comply with court’s decision.
