Kidnapping foiled in Zamboanga City

GOVERNMENT militiamen on late Thursday afternoon (December 8) foiled an alleged kidnapping attempt on three school teachers in a small village in Zamboanga City.

Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) spokesman, Lt. Colonel Randolph Cabangbang, said that armed men tried to abduct the school teachers at the vicinity of Liamong Elementary School in Sitio Tige, Brgy. Limaong, Zambaonga City.

The military official said the armed men took at gunpoint the three teachers identified as Lee Mariano, Lerna Cabilis and Riza dela Cruz at around 4 p.m. Thursday.

However, the incident was reported by some witnesses to a passing patrol of army militiamen who immediately responded and fired warning shots.

The suspects quickly fled, leaving behind their would-be kidnap victims. Anthony Vargas
