P6.5-M marijuana plants, seeds destroyed in Benguet – PNP
MANILA, Philippines – Joint anti-narcotics operatives have uprooted and destroyed some P6.5-million worth of marijuana plants and seeds during eradication operation in the hinterlands of Benguet yesterday, police reports said Thursday.
Camp Crame reports said the eradication operation was jointly carried out by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police the upland Sitio Giwan, Barangay Bilig Kayapaga in Bakun town.
The reports said PDEA and local police operatives have uprooted and seized some 30,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 125 grams of marijuana seeds during the operation.
The confiscated marijuana plants, seeds, and stems have an estimated street value of P6.503 million, reports said.
Base on reports some of the marijuana plants were burned while others were brought to Ilocos Sur police headquarters for proper disposition.
