Sulu bridge bombed by ASG — PNP
SUSPECTED Abu Sayyaf (ASG) bandits on early dawn Saturday blew up a concrete bridge in a remote village in Patikul, Sulu despite of intensified government operations against them, police reports said.
Initial reports reaching Camp Crame’s operation center said bombed was a concrete bridge in Barangay Laug in Patikul, a known lair of Al-Qaeda linked militants.
The reports, sent by ARMM police director, Chief Supt. Bienvenido Latag, the bombing took place at around 1:40 a.m. with the suspects using an improvised explosive device (IED).
No one was hurt in the explosion, which caused serious damage to the bridge and was meant to hamper the movement of troops running after the ASG, the reports said.
The ASG is the smallest but the most vicious terror group operation in Mindanao and was blamed for past deadly bombings in Manila and Mindanao and was also involved in kidnapping and murders.
