Suspected bomb maker nabbed in Sarangani
MANILA, Philippines – Joint military and police intelligence operatives have on late Friday evening arrested a suspected bomb maker after raiding his safe-house in a remote village in Sarangani province, police reports said Saturday.
PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr., quoting reports from the field, identified the arrested suspect as Basrin Tungan, alias Palos, who has pending warrant of arrest.
Cruz said Tungan was arrested at around 10 p.m. Friday at his safehouse in Maguid Compound, Daliao Maasim town in Sarangani province.
The PNP spokesman said the operation was carried out by combine elements of the Sarangani Provincial Police Office, Regional Intelligence 12, Military Intelligence Group 12, ISU and elements of 73rd Infantry Battalion.
Recovered from the suspect’s safehouse were components for improvised explosive device, one M14 rifle, M16 rifle with scope, M79 grenade launcher, one garand rifle, one Ultimax machine gun and assorted ammunition.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Sarangani police for investigation, the PNP spokesman said.
