Immediately when the news of the tragedy brought by typhoon Sendong reached Metro Manila, Caritas Manila and Radio Veritas846, as it did during Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, and Japan and Haiti disasters, activated Caritas Damay Kapanalig. Using Radyo Veritas846 as communication platform, a telethon was launched to help typhoon Sendong Victims. The websites of Radyo Veritas846 and Caritas Manila were redesigned to call for national and international assistance. The Church network of volunteers through Caritas Manila’s social services and development ministry were sent in to action to provide the necessary manpower for quick-response relief operations.
“We continue to call for help to all kind-hearted souls especially our Filipino brothers and sisters overseas. Although relief operations may be over, more help is needed to start the healing process and rehabilitation. You can donate either through www.caritasmanila.org.ph or log on to www.veritas846.ph, ” adds Fr. Pascual.
