Cybercrime prevention bill pasado na
PASADO na sa third and final reading ang panukalang Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 na naglalayong parusahan ang masasangkot sa internet-related crimes tulad ng online theft, fraud at hacking.
Ayon kay Senador Edgardo Angara, ang Senate Bill No. 2796 o Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 ay magbibigay ng kapangyarihann sa law enforcement agencies na mag-imbestiga, manghuli at mang-usig ng mga indibidwal na may paglabag sa internet-related crimes.
“A large chunk of human activity nowadays is no longer merely physical – it occurs in the internet. Crime and harm are thus no longer merely physical – they can occur online as well. There is a need for us to innovate security measures and enact laws that will help protect us in the digital world,” ani Angara.
Kabilang din sa saklaw ng panukala ang pagpataw ng parusa sa computer forgery, computer-related fraud, cybersex at child pornography.
“The bill will have to undergo bicameral review before it becomes national law, but I am optimistic that our conterparts in the House of Representative will act as decisively,” ani Angara.
