ASG member in beheading of marine troops in 2007 nabbed
MANILA, Philippines – Government security forces arrested on early dawn Tuesday a notorious member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) wanted for several high-profile crimes, including the beheading of ten marine troops in Al Barkah, Basilan in 2007.
Initial reports reaching Camp Crame identified the notorious ASG member arrested by government troops as Abdulpattah Ismael alias Patah Hamjak.
PNP Spokesman, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., said Ismael was arrested by troops at around 1:40 a.m. during seaborne operation at Barangay Riverside, Isabela City in Basilan.
Cruz said Ismael was arrested by combine PNP-SAF, Naval Intelligence, NISG, RCIDU and PCTC elements base on several warrants issued by the Isabel City Regional Trial Court in Basilan.
The PNP spokesman said base on police records, Ismael was involved in the beheading of ten marine troops in Al-Barkah, Basilan on June 2007.
Ismale also participated as one of the plannerin the incursion of 2009 Basilan Jail break to rescue Dan Laksaw ASNAWI.
He was also involved in the foiled kidnapping in Sangali Zamboanga City and was also responsible for the procurement of Digital PNP SAF uniform that ASG members attack Isabela City last 2010.
