Focusing on city’s problem
With Mayor Tito Oreta sidelined by his own battle over his uncontrolled smoking habit, his nephew Vice Mayor LenLen Oreta has to take over the city’s top post, of course, with permission from the former who gives the latter the blanket authority to continue the projects and programs he has initiated.
A certified bachelor like PNoy though LenLen is much younger at the age of 40, the acting mayor says his love life is on hold at least for now as he preoccupies himself in running the affairs of the local government which has to contend with various problems and meager income that’s insufficient to carry out the city’s programs in full.
The younger Oreta, whose mother ex-Senator Tessie Aquino-Oreta is the sister of late Sen. Ninoy Aquino, PNoy’s father, admits he hasn’t yet felt the position or being the mayor though on temporary basis because he has immediately focused himself in confronting the day-to-day problems of the city like the usual wanton dumping of garbage by some hard-headed residents and the parents’ common complaints of too much expenses as graduation and recognition day gets near.
About Mayor Tito, who has been undoubtedly well-loved by most residents and even some political rivals for his kindness and being too caring to them since the time he was Barangay Maysilo chairman and barangay league president for years, for sure many will miss him much.
Acting Mayor LenLen, who used to be shy-type though strong-willed as indicated by his being workaholic and serious in running the city’s affairs, is all praises for the local officials and employees who have thrown their full support when he took over the top post.
He says: “There is no doubt we can effectively carry out and continue the programs and projects of Mayor (Tito) Oreta who is responsible for putting up several major infrastructures and modern City Hall complex because we have cooperative city officials and employees.”
He cites in particular Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel, wife of An-Waray partylist Rep. Bhem Noel, whom he described as his active partner in managing the affairs of the city and implementing pro-people programs like the proposed and soon-to-be-built Malabon City Hospital.
Ordering the release of P.6-million to augment the expenses of graduating students from 37 elementary and HS campuses, the acting mayor reveals that he’s meeting with school officials as well as several parents and teachers associations (PTAs) after he receives reports and complaints from parents of expensive graduation of their children.
Nonetheless, he makes sure that the graduation ceremonies must be simple yet meaningful.
Go Mayor LenLen, show them the best and contentment in serving the people without asking for any return.
