Haas beats Mickelson, Bradley in playoff
Bill Haas made an improbable 45-foot birdie putt across the green to beat Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley in a three-way playoff and win the Northern Trust Open on Sunday (Monday morning in Manila) at Riviera I Los Angeles, California.
Mickelson and Bradley also came up with heroic shots to get into the playoff.
With Haas on the practice range warming up for a possible playoff, Mickelson sank a birdie putt from just outside 25 feet while Bradley holed in his own birdie putt from just outside 12 feet.
The trio started the playoff on the 18th with all of them settling for par.
Haas took it on the 312-yard 10th hole, regarded as the best short par 4 in America.
