Town councilor killed in clan war in Lanao
A TOWN councilor was killed while his bodyguard was wounded after being ambushed by members of a rival clan in Lanao del Sur, Monday morning, police reports said Tuesday.
Camp Crame reports identified the victim killed in the ambush as Tagoranao Pompol Saliling, 54, while wounded was Suma Saliling, 30, a militiaman.
The reports said that the ambush incident took place at around 11: 40 a.m. at Brgy. Tual, Picong town in Lanao del Sur.
Two were onboard a Toyota Revo van (XPE-147) and traversing at the said place when they were fired upon by four armed men identified as Farouk Balindong Jr., alias Lobo, an alias Totie, an alias Musaeb and one unident person.
The reports said the victims sustained gunshot wounds and rushed to a hospital, with Tagoranao Pompol Saliling was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Initial investigation said that motive behind the ambush is believed to be rido.
Elements of the Picong Municipal Police Station are now conducting manhunt operations against the suspects.
