4 gun for hire killed in Pampanga shoot-out
A LEADER of a dreaded gun-for-hire group along with three of his henchmen were killed in a shootout with police operatives early Sunday in a remote village in Pampanga, police reports said Monday.
Initial reports reaching Camp Crame identified the slain gang leader as Gider de Leon, head of the Den-Den Group involved in gun for hire activities.
While the identities of the three other gang members killed in the shootout with joint elements of Pampanga police forces and SWAT are still being ascertain, reports said.
Reports said the shootout between policemen and gang members occured at around 5 a.m. along a police checkpoint at the Anao-San Jose Malino Rd, Bgy. Anao, Mexico, Pampanga.
Joint policemen from Mexico and Sta. Ana police, RPSB and SWAT had set-up a checkpoint at the said area following reported sightings of the Den-Den group in Brgy. Panipuan also of the same town.
The Den-Den group is a dreded group that operates in Central Luzon area and is involved in gun for hiren illegal drugs, carnapping and robbery/holdup/extortion activities, reports said.
The checkpoint was also set-up by the police to implement the warrant of arrest against the gang leader, Gider de Leon alias Den-Den, reports.
While conducting checkpoint, policemen flagged down the four suspects who were onboard three (3) motorcycles without any plate numbers, reports said.
The reports said that the suspects ignored the checkpoint and instead of stopping, they opened fire at the police leading to a shootout.
As a result of the shootout, the four suspects were killed, including the leader of the group, De Leon, reports said.
The reports added that police recovered from the scene two hand grenades, two caliber .38 pistols and the three motorcycles used by the suspects.
