Old woman killed, 30 injured in bus and jeep collision
A sixty-nine year old woman was killed and thirty others were injured following a collision between a passenger truck and bus in Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Reports reaching Camp Crame identified the lone fatality in the collision as Sherly Solidario, 69, while the injured other passengers were taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The reports said the collision between the passenger bus and jeep took place at around 10am along the highway in Brgy. Mabini in Valladolid town of said province.
The reports said the lone fatality and 28 other injured victims were passengers of the jeepney and the remaining two injured victims are bus passengers.
The passenger jeepney came from Pulupandan town and was going to Vallodolid proper when the collision occurred, reports said.
The reports said the passenger jeepney stop beside the highway to pick-up some passengers when it was hit by Ceres, which was also on the same direction.
Because of the collision, the jeep was thrown to a canal that resulted to the death of the woman and wounding of other passengers, reports said.
The reports said the bus driver, identified as Arnel Cansajan, 41, surrendered to the police after the collision took place.
