Police hunts down village chief in shooting rampage
POLICE are now hunting down a village chairman who went on a shooting rampage early dawn Saturday killing one person and wounding an 81-year old woman in Tondo, Manila, police reports said.
Initial reports reaching Camp Crame’s operations center, the suspect in the shooting rampage being track down by the police was identified as Erwin Catacutan, chairman of Barangay 62 in Zone 6, Tondo, Manila.
While the victim in the shooting incident was identified were Loreto Bautista, 39-years old, who died while being rushed to a hosptial and Marcela Santos, 81-years old, who was hit by a stray bullet, reports said.
The reports said that the shooting incident took place at around 1:05 am while the suspect and the victim were having a drinking session at 525 Mejorada St., in Tondo, Manila.
The reports said that a heated argument between the two ensued while in the middle of their drinking session with the Catacutan drawing out his .45 caliber pistol and began shooting.
Bautista was hit several times in the body and Santos was hit by stray bullet, the two were rushed to a nearby hospital where Bautista was declared dead on arrival, the reports said.
