2012 PACS makes stop in Batangas

THE 2012 Philippine Autocross Championship Series hits the road of Lima Land in Malvar, Batangas on April 29.

Defending champion Danby Yaptinchay is expected to continue his dominance in the Luzon legs of the annual event supported by Phoenix Accelerate Vega and Federal Tyres.

The Malvar stop is also supported by Lima Land, Inc. and Lima Park Hotel.

The Luzon champion will meet the winners from Visayas and Mindanao in the season’s grand finale on November 25 at the Quirino Parade Grounds in Manila.

Autocross racers from the south started to battle for positions during the kickoff races in Visayas and Mindanao.

Bacolod City hosted the opening leg of the 2012 PACS in Visayas last March 25 while the first of the Mindanao legs got underway at the Lim Ket Kai Mall Grounds in Cagayan De Oro City last March 18.

A citywide motorcade attended by government officials, local sponsors, racing aficionados and some 22 racers marked the opening of the Bacolod event.

Among the notables during the motorcade was Shane Cooper, a prominent businessman in the city and a part of the racing legions in the country way back 1970s.

The New Government Center road served as the venue of the race where local bet Mike Vasquez duplicated his success last year.

There was also a pre-race motorcade in Cagayan De Oro City attended by drivers from Pagadian City Magsalang Father and Son Group, Ozamiz City Drivers, Iligan Car Club, and the Icons of Cagayan De Oro. Noli Cruz
