3 militiamen, ASG bandit killed in Basilan ambush
THREE government militiamen and an Islamic extremist were killed as a group of Abu Sayyaf (ASG) ambushed a government patrol in a remote village in Basilan on Thursday dawn, military reports said.
Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo identified the three government militiaman killed in the ambush as Nulmer Lumbos, Buddo Hatula, and Papang Manjapal, while the ASG member killed was a certain Bakrim.
Colonel Ricardo Visaya, commander of army’s 104th Infantry Brigade said the ambush took place at around 5:45 am at Block 29, Brgy. Tumahubong, Sumisip.
The military official said that government militiamen were on patrol at the said area when they were ambushed by a group of ASG bandit under Furuji Indama triggering a firefight.
This resulted to the killing of three militiamen and an ASG bandit, before the bandits withdrew towards unknown direction, the military official said.
Visaya said, elements of the 4th Scout Ranger Battalion are now conducting pursuit operations against the ASG bandits.
