Gunmen snatch govt engr in Jolo, Sulu – PNP
MANILA, Philippines – a Filipino-Chinese government engineer and gas station owner was abducted by seven armed men right at his home in downtown Jolo, Sulu on Saturday night, military reports said Sunday.
Lt. Colonel Randolph Cabangbang, spokesman of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) identified the victim as Engr. Carlos Tee.
Cabangbang said Tee was snatched by seven armed men who barged inside his residence HJ Butu Extension in Jolo, Sulu at around 7:30pm.
The victim was then dragged by the suspect inside a yellow colored Toyota Tamaraw van and quickly fled towards the direction of Scott-Asturias Rd.
Tee reportedly owned the Caltex Gas Station in Jolo and is also employed by the Air Transportation Office of DOTC, the reports said.
Government security forces are now conductinh pursuit operations against Tee’s abductors.
Sulu province is a known bailiwick of the several militant moro groups such as the breakaway MNLF and Abu Sayyaf (ASG).
