Huwag patakot sa Tsina

WITH apologies to Patrick Henry, ang may-akda ng talumpating ito noong March 23, 1775 na pinamagatang Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death!

Huwag nating lokohin ang ating sarili. Ang mga barko ng Tsina ay nasa karagatan na natin upang tayo ay sakupin.

Ang sinabi nila ay makipag-usap tayo sa Tsina, pero sampung taon na tayong nakikipag-usap sa bansang iyan at ano ang kinahinatnan? Wala! Bokya!

Ang mga barko ng Tsina ay nasa pampang nating yan upang sakupin ang ating mga pulo.

Makipagnegosasyon daw tayo sa Tsina at let us exhaust all peaceful means pero ginawa na natin ang lahat na yan at ngayon ay parating na ang unos ng Tsina.

Sinasabi ng ating gobyerno na tayo ay mahina pa at hindi natin kaya ang Tsina. Pero kailangan tayo magiging malakas? Next week ba o sa isang taon?

Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a Chinese guard shall be stationed in every house natin, until China shall have bound us hand and foot?

Mga ginoo at ginang ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas, hindi tayo mahina. Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power.

Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us.

The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. The war is inevitable–and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms!

Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

Sa digmaan ng Britain at America, nanalo ang noon ay isang mahinang bansang Amerika.
