Nadal tops Djokovic, Monte Carlo Masters
RAFAEL NADAL defeated Novak Djokovic, 6-3, 6-1, to win the Monte Carlo Masters for the eighth consecutive year and snap a string of seven straight defeats to his rival in title matches.
The Spaniard broke serve five times to highlight the one-sided affair. It was Nadal’s first title since the French Open last year and 47th of his career.
It was their first meeting since their epic marathon in the finals of the Australian Open won by Djokovic earlier this year.
Nadal improved his career record against Djokovic to 17-14 although it was his first victory against the Serb since an early round match during the 2010 ATP Finals in London. Noli Cruz
