30 BPO firms in billionaires’ club
At LEAST 30 business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in the Philippines are generating between P1 billion to P17 billion in annual revenues, according to House Deputy Majority Leader and Pasig Representative Roman Romulo.
“The 30 firms are the faces of our BPO industry. They each directly employ anywhere from 5,000 to 25,000 mostly college-educated, fluent English-speaking and tech-savvy Filipino professionals,” Romulo said.
He identified the 30 largest BPO firms by annual gross revenues as Accenture Inc. (P17.433 billion); Convergys Phils. Services Corp. (P11.901 billion); TeleTech Customer Care Management Phils. Inc. Romulo said the figures are based on 2010 revenues as reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Of the 30 highest-grossing BPO firms, three –- Telephilippines, Telus and Sykes –- are based in Pasig City, which Romulo represents in Congress.
Romulo is a key backer of the BPO sector and author of the proposed Data Privacy Act, which is expected to further drive outsourcing to Manila.
