Dagupan City Mayor signs MOA with various agencies vs illegal drugs
PANGASINAN – The rainy morning brought about by Typhoon Butchoy did not dampen spirits as various key officers from government agencies and non-government organizations gathered for the Memorandum of Agreement signing against illegal-drugs at the Dagupan City Plaza.
Led by its Local Chief Executive, Dagupan City Mayor Benjamin S. Lim gathered various organizations including the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1), the Philippine National Police, Dagupan City, Dagupan City Prosecutors Office, Dagupan City District Office of the National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Education and various notable private institutions to formally mark their partnership in maintaining peace and order.
The ceremonial signing was part of Dagupan City’s week long celebration “Agew Na Dagupan” or Dagupan Day and is mainly aimed at establishing a strong and viable interactive role between and amongst stakeholders in both Sectors of Government and Non-Government Institutions in the campaign against illegal drugs.
PDEA RO1 Regional Director who was one of the signatories lauded Dagupan City’s efforts and fervently hopes it will minimize the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city.
According to intelligence reports Dagupan City is one of the transshipment point of illegal drugs before it is distributed to adjacent areas in Pangasinan, La Union and Baguio City.
