Federer, Djokovic forge rematch in French Open
NOVAK DJOKOVIC and Roger Federer were pushed to the brink before rallying to win in five sets against tough opponents and advance to the semifinals of the French Open.
The top-seeded Djokovic saved four match points in the fourth set against hometown hero Jo-Wilfred Tsonga en route to a 6-1, 5-7, 5-7, 7-6 (6), 6-1 victory while Federer came back from two sets down to defeat Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, 3-6, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-0, 6-3.
Djokovic and Federer also met in the French Open semifinals last year with the latter stopping the 43-match winning streak of the former.
The rematch looked improbable early especially with Federer quickly surrendering the first two sets to del Potro. Djokovic also lost grounds after a fast start, losing the second and third sets to the inspired Tsonga.
But when Federer and Djokovic found a way to force a deciding set, their respective opponents simply faded into the Parisian night. Noli S. Cruz
