Nadal, Sharapova advance easily in French Open

RAFAEL NADAL cruised to fourth round of the French Open with a 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 win over Eduardo Schwank of Argentina.

The second-seeded Spaniard is eyeing a record seventh French Open title. He shares the record of six with Bjorn Borg.

He has lost only 17 games in nine sets at this year’s tournament.

More impressive was Maria Sharapova in the distaff side.

The Russian stunner downed Peng Shuai of China, 6-2, 6-1, to advance to the fourth round. She has lost only five games in three matches so far in Paris.

Sharapova, eyeing to complete a career Grand Slam with a victory at the French Open, will next face Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic, who defeated 22nd-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3, 7-5. Noli S. Cruz
