Nadal wins 7th French Open title
RAFAEL NADAL completed his 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 victory over Novak Djokovic on Monday to rule the French Open for a record seventh time.
The match ended on a Djokovic double fault, an anti-climactic ending to a historic final pitting the two best players in the world.
It was the third time that Nadal prevented a rival from winning a fourth straight Grand Slam title. He did it to Roger Federer in 2006 and 2007 and to Djokovic this year.
Nadal broke the record he shared with Bjorn Borg for most titles in the French Open and improved to 52-1 in the tournament.
It was his 11th overall Grand Slam title, tying him with Borg and Rod Laver on the all-time list behind Federer (16), Pete Sampras (14) and Roy Emerson (12). Noli S. Cruz
