Nadal wins despite shaky start
RAFAEL NADAL of Spain shrugged off a shaky start to dispatch Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil, 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-3, in his Wimbledon opener.
The second seeded Nadal lost the first four games after getting broken for the second time in the opening set.
He was two points away from going down 0-5, but Bellucci netted an overhead backhand at 30-15 and Nadal went on to break for 1-4 to start the comeback.
Nadal won the next three games to make it 4-4 and Bellucci then self-destructed in the tiebreaker, making several unforced errors.
The two-time champion was hardly troubled after that and served out the match with an ace.
Coming off his record seventh French Open title, Nadal broke six times and had 35 winners and 18 errors. He is bidding for a 12th Grand Slam title. Noli S. Cruz
