Sharapova remains sharp in French Open
THERE was no stopping the juggernaut named Maria Sharapova on Friday in the second round of the French Open.
Fresh from a 6-0, 6-0 win over Alexandra Cadantu of Romania in the first round, Sharapova followed it up with a 6-1, 6-1 demolition of Ayumi Morita of Japan.
The three-time Grand Slam champion, who was forced to wait an extra day because play ran late on Thursday, is one of the favorites to win at Roland Garros this year.
Sharapova won twice as many points as Morita, 56-28, and never faced a break point. She will next face Peng Shuai of China. Noli Cruz
