Woods gains share of lead in U.S. Open

AN EVEN-PAR round proved enough for Tiger Woods o Friday (Saturday morning in Manila) to gain a share of the lead halfway in the U.S. Open.

Woods had three birdies and three bogeys in a roller-coaster second round to match the 1-under total of Jim Furyk and David Toms heading into the weekend at The Olympic Club.

Toms also posted an even-par 70 while Furyk shot a 69 in the second round.

Some of the best players in the world succumbed to the tough golf course with defending champion Rory McIlroy, top-ranked Luke Donald and Masters champion Bubba Watson missing the cut. Noli S. Cruz
