Bayan Muna office strafed
PROGRESSIVE party list Reps. Neri Colmenares and Teddy Casiño today condemned the strafing of the Bayan Muna office in Sitio Bukhasa, Brgy. Cawayan, Catarman, Northern Samar, last night around 10:25pm.
“It is again escalating!” said Rep. Neri Colmenares on the growing number of human rights violations including the recent spate of extra judicial killings.
“Pres. Aquino has failed to dismantle the death squads and the infrastructure of impunity that has plagued the country for years”.“It seems that there is a growing number of harassment and attacks against the progressive movement and the Aquino administration is doing nothing to stop it.
Cases of extrajudicial killings like that of Bayan Muna member Romualdo Palispis in Aurora and Wilhelm Geertman, the arrest of Makabayan coordinator Agnes Mesina in Tuguegarao City and series of burglaries of offices of progressives,” said Colmenares.
“What is also very alarming is that these all happened in a span of 2 weeks and it seems that there is a concerted effort now to attack the progressive movement especially that the 2013 election is fast approaching,” added the progressive solon.
According to Karapatan there are at least 78 victims of extrajudicial killings in the country under President Benigno Aquino III. Meanwhile the likes of Gen. Jovito Palparan have not been made to account.
“We are urging the Aquino administration to conduct an immediate and serious investigation on these attacks to immediately stop it because this may again reach the proportions during the time of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo,” said Colmenares.
