Els wins British Open as Scott collapses

A BIRDIE on his final hole proved to be the winning shot for Ernie Els in the 2012 British Open at the Royal Lytham & St. Annes. But it didn’t feel like one when he made it.

Adam Scott was in full control of the tournament at the time Els wrapped up his final round 68 and 7-under 273 total.

But Scott lost his focus, his once formidable lead, and his chance to win his first major in the last four holes.
