“It is the US government that has been pushing the Aquino regime to ratify the SOVFA because it needs the Australian military to have access to the Philippines,” ayon sa CPP.
The SOVFA with Australia has been pending in the Senate since 2007 and was ratified that year by the Australian parliament. Benigno Aquino III pushed for the ratification of the SOVFA in December 2010. It was ratified last Tuesday by the Philippine Senate in a 17-1 vote, paliwanag naman ng isang opisyal sa media.
Ayon pa sa CPP, malinaw ang record ng Australian military forces na laging pinapakilos at ginagamit ng US Armed Forces simula pa ng World War II, mula US interventionist war sa Korea at Vietnam in the 1950s hanggang 1970s, sa Gulf Wars noong 1990 .
‘In having the SOVFA with Australia, the Philippine and Australian governments are again serving as willing pawns of the US military in its drive to project American military, economic and political power in the Asia-Pacific region,” ayon pa pahayag ng CPP.
