“The issue on the hazard pay of our forecasters is already with DBM. This is a problem for 2012 kasi just as by way of background, ‘yung hazard po kasi doon—in previous years—have always been dependent on the savings of an agency. So ang ginawa po natin diyan is that for 2013 hindi na po contingent on savings ‘yung kanilang hazard pay. The issue now is for, I think, March until the present day kung ‘yung payment po nila. So the DBM is determining kung paano na po, kung ano ‘yung state of the expenses and the savings of that particular agency,” ayon kay Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte.
“Which is why… Kaya nga po in-address na, na ‘yung benefits po nila hindi na ginagawang contingent—I mean, for the 2013 budget proposal, hindi na siya contingent on savings. That is one of the actions that the Secretary did take in order to keep addressing their concerns,” ayon kay Usec. Valte sabay sabing “The hazard pay po kasi is mandated by law. Meron pong mga several… There are several frontliners that are entitled to hazard pay. So may particular law po ‘yan na pinagkukunan. So depende, again, that depends on the agency. But allow me to stress that we will have to speak to Secretary Montejo to get a fuller and clearer picture of what was supposed to have transpired today.”
“Our forecasters have always risen to the occasion. They have never put the public in jeopardy,” ayon sa opisyal.
