‘Igme’ weakens, ‘Julian’ continues to move northwest
THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that at 4:00 a.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm ‘Igme’ was located based on satellite and surface data at 370 km Northwest of Basco, Batanes (22.5°N 118.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 13 kph.
Meanwhile, Typhoon ‘Julian’ was located at 970 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes (23.2°N 132.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph. It is forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph. Southwest monsoon affecting the rest of Luzon, the whole Visayas and Mindanao.
The islands of Batanes will experience rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the rest of the country and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
