Hello MSUans,

I received this note from one colleague (a Christian) in the University regarding the danger in the University: “No, not dangerous. It was un-fortunate that other people chose to do their thing here. It was an isolated case. MSU is always home and I feel safe here.  The President is not in trouble with anyone and nobody in the administration is.  So there is no cause for trouble.   MSU is not a haven of bad elements, you know that.

Apparently, it was just rido/revenge to the army who patrols the University. The talks were that an alalay of Pre, the Mayor of Marawi, provoked an army soldier when he fired shots pataas. The army, it was claimed, killed him mercilessly, and he was beyond recognition. Ok lang daw sana when he was shot a few times but being shot na ‘di na recognizable was too much. The relatives vowed revenge. So ayun, they planned to ambush the army that patrols the Univ at night. It happened in MSU so people thought that MSUans are in danger. No, we are good, we are safe. MSU is safe. Pranksters just cashed in on that incident.  If some students went home, more stayed, they know that wala lang yon.”

According to latest reports, MSU is indeed back to its normal operations. Students, who went home to their respective provinces, have returned. The “break” was a good respite for the soul and spirit of everyone. Lalong tumatapang ang mga estudyante natin.

As the song goes, “Start spreading the news,…tarantaran…MSU, MSU, if you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere…”  Indeed!
